Description
A. Course objective: To provide students with a highly effective and thorough dental assisting program. Students will be taught through hands-on learning that will prepare them with the skills necessary to obtain an entry level position as a general chairside dental assistant.
Description: This is a progressive institution that offers the opportunity of an education in hands on dental assisting. This is a hands on training center where our up-to-date curriculum & instructional program is tailored for the success of each student. Students will develop knowledge & experience to enable them to become a valuable asset in the dental field. Each program session is 12 weeks in length and consists of 48 hrs of classroom instruction, 96 hrs of lab/clinical hands-on instruction & 24 hrs of externship experience. Courses covered are: Intro to Dentistry, Infection Control, Preventative Dentistry, Dental Radiography, Management of Pain & Anxiety, Restorative Materials & Techniques, Dental Specialties, Lab Materials & Techniques, Patient Care, and Dental Practice Management. Competencies to be achieved:
This is a certificate program where students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Mesa Academy of Dental Assisting. Students will be prepared to take the state mandated x-ray and coronal polish exams administered by DANB. Students will also be CPR certified and trained in OSHA BBP standards.
B. Total Cost of Program – Total cost with exams $3770
Tuition: $3295 (does not include DANB RHS exam – $250 or DANB Coronal Polish exam – $225.

Background check requirements for licensing & background restrictions: DANB Licensing: 1. Regarding felony convictions within last 5 years or sentences currently being served for felony convictions 2. Regarding having ever been disciplined by a regulatory board, certifying or examination agency or educational institution
3.Regarding ever being declared mentally incompetent by a court of law

H. Refund Policy: Three day cancellation: An applicant who provides written notice of cancellation within 3 days (excluding Sat, Sun or federal/state holidays) of signing an enrollment agreement is entitled to a refund of all monies paid. MADA shall provide a 100% refund no later than 30 days of receiving notice of cancellation.
If a student withdraws from MADA after start of program & within 50% of course completion, they are eligible for a refund, less the registration fee.
10% or less-90%, 10%-20%-80%, 20%—30%-70%, 30%-40%-60%, 40%-50%-50%, more than 50% – no refund.

J. Credential Attainment: Students at MADA are tracked in their progress in taking the DANB Radiology test and the Coronal Polish test which are required by the State of Arizona in the following ways:
A tracking sheet is kept of all students that completed the program at MADA
Applications for testing are filled out in class for all students
Students that have not taken the test prior to program completion are contacted monthly to update their status & are offered help in preparing for the test.
Credential Attainment: To date – 2 students have taken the RHS exam and passed (100%). Several students are continuing to study for test or are scheduled in the future.
