Job Duties:
Responsible for building and maintaining cutting-edge distribution platforms, as well as ensuring that FOX content is readily available to viewers at any time via broadcast channel playout, Video onDemand (VOD) and other media services. Be involved in building technology that delivers a high-quality viewer experience to millions across FOX networks, digital platforms, mobile applications, websites, and licensing partnerships. Specific duties include: 1) Provide Tier 1 support for all FOX on-air broadcast systems and operations teams. 2) Follow standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment. 3) Build and maintain FOX’s broadcast infrastructure. 4) Conduct lab, performance and system tests, as well as prototype efforts in order to drive the optimization of FOX’s broadcasting architecture and infrastructure. 5) Provide support to evaluating solutions portfolio against third party offerings. 6) Provide support to Media Operations in day-to-day operations and assist users with technical issues or concerns. 7) Partner with the Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues. 8) Collaborate with engineering teams, operations teams, and third-party vendors to develop long term strategy, product development and implementation road maps. 9) Maintain a communication link between Broadcast Engineering and other departments by partnering to resolve issues and communicating feedback to Broadcast Engineering management to improve processes, services and solutions. 10) Understand that data is critical to making informed business decisions and use it to understand and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Broadcast engineering team’s performance. 11) Analyze dashboards and constantly optimize system security and testing, minimizing bugs making it to final products. 12) Prioritize the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team and increase the efficiency of both personnel and broadcasting systems.
Minimum requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate broadcast engineering or related engineering experience in broadcast or media industry, including experience in virtual machines and database administration; IP-based network technologies; and translating business and operation requirements into technical requirements.
*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Experience in Enterprise Scale Asset Management solutions; 2) Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 suite of standards and specifications such as AMWA NMOS; 3) Knowledge of compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS; 4) Knowledge of asset management systems, file based workflows, media acquisition, transcoding/encoding, and NAS/SAN technologies; 5) Knowledge of on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms; and 6) Knowledge of 4K High Dynamic Range, HDR10+ and industry standards such as Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)
