Job Description
Summary and Scope
A Traveling Field Technician - Telecommunications will travel to contract job sites as directed and is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down temporary facilities. The duties include but are not limited to performing plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, general IT installation, IT configuration, troubleshooting, telecommunications, administrative, laundry facilities upkeep, and ground maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and efficient job site.
Essential Functions
- Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain DR equipment.
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain IT equipment including control panels, window/door sensors, alarms, etc.
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain site equipment including Sanitrax, vac systems, pumps, etc.
- Perform general maintenance functions for electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems.
- Perform ground maintenance and limited site work tasks as needed.
- Perform equipment operation onsite as required (training will be provided).
- Perform daily/scheduled maintenance checks and services on government equipment, company trucks and equipment.
- Operate site equipment to include but not limited to forklifts, tractors, work carts, yard maintenance equipment, skid steers (training will be provided).
- Assist with maintenance of water and wastewater systems on project site.
- Repair company equipment as needed to maintain serviceable condition.
- Installation and termination of CAT 6 cable according to industry standards
- Installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables.
- Mounting and securing telecommunications equipment such as switches, routers, and patch panels.
- Testing and troubleshooting network connections to identify and resolve issues.
- Conducting site surveys to assess telecommunications infrastructure needs.
- Collaborating with other team members to design and implement telecommunications solutions.
- Documenting all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately.
- Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working in various environments.
- Providing technical support and assistance to end-users as needed.
- Keeping abreast of advancements in telecommunications technology and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned

Skills and Specifications
- Basic mechanical skills
- General IT installation, configuration, and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of and ability to operate basic hand and power tools.
- Great organizational skills
- General knowledge of safe working practices
- Ability to read and interpret owners manuals, equipment schematics and work orders
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Have a clean driving record (able to drive company vehicles).
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills
- Ability to learn and follow safety instructions
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills
- Willingness to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
- Ability to terminate CAT 6
Work Environment
This job operates in field environments. We operate 24/7/365, inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, hand tools, site equipment and vehicles, and is required to use and wear standard PPE, which will be provided by the company. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.
Travel
This position requires up to 100% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours’ notice.
