Description
The Paramedic Certificate program prepares students to render pre-hospital emergency care as an ambulance, fire department, search and rescue, and volunteer ambulance personnel. This program trains students to perform a variety of medical services including recognition of and management of patients with heart disease; immediate care to persons with auto accident injuries, burns, poisoning, and alcohol and drug overdose; assistance with emergency childbirth, acute psychiatric disorders, and various other medical emergencies. This program meets or exceeds all National EMS Paramedic Education Curriculum requirements.
Students who wish to participate in the Paramedic Certificate program must be 18 years of age or older, be a currently-certified EMT, and have one year of pre-hospital or patient care documented experience. In addition, they must have a current CPR-BLS for ‘Healthcare Provider’ or equivalent credential. Students must also have completed BIO 160 or HES 129 or be enrolled concurrently with EMS 240 and EMS 241.

Requirements for Graduation
NO D or F grades in any program required courses and completion of all field of study courses with a ‘B’ or better.
