Description

A. Course Objective: Develop the personal traits and professional skills needed to perform as competent entry-level Nurses. The program provides students with knowledge of anatomy and physiology, growth and development, pharmacology, nursing theory, and skills for patient care across the life span. Competencies to be achieved: Critical thinking, clinical judgment, evidence-based research, therapeutic and professional communication techniques, Provide and adapt culturally competent patient-centered nursing care, Advocate for patients and family members whose health status requires a new pathway in life, providing for freedom, and utilizing the uniqueness and diversity of the individual(s), Demonstrate evolving professional identity by living and modeling the professional values and roles expected of the nursing culture. Create, review and revise a personal plan to commit to a life-long process of learning, supported by reading, researching, questioning and reflection on personal and professional growth, Value nursing practice performed within an ethical and legal framework of the nursing profession, Utilize information technology products within the healthcare systems to store, retrieve, and transmit data and to acquire data to determine and defend best practices.

Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card (prior to acceptance)
The cost is approximately $65 (ARS 15-1881) payable by the student/applicant directly to the AZ Dept of Public Safety.
Felony Conviction – Felonies must be disclosed to the Arizona Board of Nursing upon application for license. State board decides whether or not to grant licensure. Pima Medical Institute cannot guarantee clinical rotation placement if a student has a felony conviction of any kind, or a misdemeanor. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain information regarding the impact of a felony conviction on the ability to become licensed.
•Other requirements needed:
Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN)
National licensure examination is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. More information can be obtained from the website: http://www.ncsbn.org/. The average cost to complete all registration and testing to become a Registered Nurse in the state of Arizona is approximately $550.00. Inclusive of: $300 (NCLEX), $200 (NCLEX Testing Center) $50 (permanent fingerprint card). Costs may vary from state to state. These costs are not included in the program price.
