Program Synopsis Health Information Management, Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)
Program Location: Signal Peak, Aravaipa, Maricopa, Superstition Mountain, San Tan Campus, and Online.
Course Objective:
Description: The Health Information Management (HIM) AAS Degree prepares students with the
knowledge and technical skills necessary for managing and improving the quality of information within the
healthcare delivery system with an emphasis on Data Management or Revenue Management. The degree focal
points are the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) entry-level competencies.
The Health Information Management Degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health
Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM); graduates from this program are eligible to sit for
the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentialing exam.

Pre-Degree Requirements:
Before applying to the program, students need to have completed the following:
* Complete a HIM program Application (Specify Data Management [DM] or Revenue Management [RM])
* Complete review of current unofficial transcripts with HIM program director.
* Complete BIO 181 General Biology I within five years of application to the program.
* Complete CIS120 Survey of Computer Information Systems within three years of application to the program.
* Complete HCC116 Medical Terminology with a final grade of “C” or higher.
* Eligibility to register for ENG101 College Composition I.
* Eligibility to register for MAT141 College Mathematics, Standard.
