Description:
Academy of Nail Technology prepares students for a career in Nail Technology. Students learn how to do manicures, pedicures, tip applications, acrylic applications, and traditional polishing and gel polishing. Hard Gel, Dip Acrylic & Art Techniques are covered.
Competencies to be achieved:
Students also learn safety – how to handle blood spill procedures, how to maintain safety during an application or polishing procedure, and disinfection procedures for these processes.
Our school provides a hands-on (clinical) and theory based program. We prepare students to confidently pass the two-part exam given by the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology licensing by teaching the fundamentals of the Nail Technology including:
Part I –The written exam which consist of various topics, including, safety and sanitation, nail and skin diseases, manicuring and pedicure processes, general business (how to be professional, schedule clients, marketing yourself, rental a space, owning your own business or working for commission).
Part II – Written practical exam consists of 60 additional questions pertaining to the science, safety, and process of performing the manicure, tip application, acrylic application and removal, red polish, and blood spill procedure.
If students take the state board exam and do not pass after receiving the results, Academy of Nail Technology will review these failed areas with the student to prepare for the retest. This is offered one time only. Students are responsible for all fees associated with State Board Exams.
Continuing education classes are available based on subject matter ;( i.e.) gel polishing, one-on-one class, new trends.
Prerequisite: Eligibility: Proof of Identification and 18 years of age. If under the age of 18 must have a High School Diploma or GED or a transcript showing 10 credit hours of high school instruction. Must have a government picture ID when registering.
