A. Course Objective:
Description: Gain basic skills in airframe mechanics
Competencies to be achieved: Upon successful completion of the Aircraft Airframe Mechanics certificate program, the learner will be able to:
• Know common safety practices used when working on and around aircraft and related support equipment.
• Identify and use applicable maintenance publications and documents.
• Know and understand federal aviation regulations.
• Inspect, assemble and repair aircraft sheet metal structures.
• Inspect, assemble and repair aircraft composite structures.
• Inspect, service, install and repair aircraft support systems.
• Inspect, service install and troubleshoot aircraft instruments and company equipment.

Each course has a required textbook indicated in the course syllabus. The predominant textbooks are the Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Handbooks. For information contact: 520-206-5914

• Safety glasses (clear) with peripheral visors; prescription glasses must have side shields.
• Two forms of hearing protection: ear plugs and over-the-ear muffs; ear buds utilized for playing music are not acceptable
• Safety Shoes
• Standard size 1-inch thick, three-ring binder, with lined paper
• Writing implements; ballpoint pen and an extra-fine point Sharpie
• Calculator with basic functions

• Fingerprinting ,criminal background and drug screening information may be a part of many state and federal licensing and certification
Other requirements needed: Potential aviation maintenance students must,
• Demonstrate college skill levels in math and reading. Assessment scores to MAT092 and REA112. An official college transcript displaying the completion of math and reading classes at or beyond these levels may be used in place of the assessments to verify skill level
• Aircraft General Mechanics Certificate and must be completed prior to the other courses in the Airframe and the Powerplant concentrations
• Attend an Aviation Technology Program orientation and submit a completed, signed Aviation Technology Program application
