Program Name: Medical Assistant w/Phelbotomy
A. Course Objective:
The objective of the Arizona College’s Medical Assisting program is to provide a sound educational environment for instruction and training to equip its graduates for entry-level positions as Medical Assistants. Duties of the Medical Assistant: Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Diploma in Medical Assisting. Typical careers include Medical Assistant, Front office Medical Assistant, Back office Medical Assistant

Items not included in Tuition: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) testing(post graduation): $125 -or -Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) offered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) testing(post graduation): $ 95; Watch with second hand $20 (est.) ;White leather/synthetic shoes -$30 (est.) ;Notebooks, paper and pens $15 (est.) ;TB Skin test $20 MMR Vaccine $90 (if needed)

• Exclusions: Some employers and externship sites require successful completion of a background check prior to accepting students
• Location of Testing Center: Both AMT and AAMA have testing centers throughout the greater Phoenix area as well as statewide.

• Industry Recognized: Graduates are qualified to test for certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or as a Registered Medical Assistant through the American Medical Technologists (AMT)


• Stackable: Additional certifications can be obtained such as a phlebotomy certification through American Medical Technologists. An HCA degree in Healthcare Administration is available through the College.


• Portable: Both the CMA and RMA described above are recognized Nationally
