Description
Program Name: Medical Billing & Coding
A. Course Objective:
Medical Billers and Coders compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinical patients. They process, maintain, compile, and report patient information for health requirements and standards in a manner consistent with the healthcare industry’s numerical coding system. Arizona College’s Medical Billing and Coding Program provides a sound educational environment for instruction and training to equip its graduates for entry-level positions. This is accomplished through approximately one half of the program consisting of lecture/demonstration and one half hands-on laboratory procedures. To meet the training objectives the following equipment will be used: Computers and printers, office management software including MediSoft and Medical Manager, anatomy charts, human skeleton and various other teaching aids. Sample job titles: Medical Records Clerk, Health Information Clerk, Medical Records Technician, Office Manager, File Clerk, Medical Records Coordinator, Medical Records Analyst, Medical Biller, Receptionist, Coder

Both AHIMA and AAPC have testing centers throughout the greater Phoenix area as well as statewide.
