Description
Program Name: Pharmacy Tech
A. Course Objective:
The objective of the Arizona College’s Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program is to provide a sound educational environment for instruction and training to equip its graduates for entry-level positions as Pharmacy Technicians. Pharmacy Technicians prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist. They measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. You will learn in our Pharmacy Lab using equipment such as laminar airflow hoods, ointment slabs, prescription balances, counting trays, pill crushers, and various teaching aids. We also provide computer training on Pharmacy Management Software.

• Exclusions: Some employers and externship sites require successful completion of a background check prior to accepting students
• Location of Testing Center: PTCB testing centers are located throughout the greater Phoenix area as well as statewide.
• Prerequisites: High School Diploma or GED and pass entrance exam
• Other requirements: Arizona State Board of Pharmacy requires the individual be a citizen or permanent resident to obtain a pharmacy technician license

I. Credentials:
• Industry Recognized: New students and graduates will obtain a 2-year trainee license. Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certifying Board (PTCB), is required for renewal.
• Stackable: Additional certifications such as those for IV preparation, Compounding and Chemotherapy can be obtained through the National Pharmacy Technician Association
• Portable: The PTCB certification is nationally recognized
• Accredited Curriculum: Accredited by the Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
