A. Course Objective: 40 Hour Class A CDL Refresher Course Description:
Phoenix Truck Driving Institute’s mission is to offer students the
opportunity to develop both the technical knowledge and the personal
skills vital to employment in the ever-changing world of truck driving.
We offer the following Recertification Programs to assist Class A
Commercial Driver’s License holders get sufficient “refresher training”
for improved employment opportunities. Competencies to be achieved: This
course is designed to take individuals with recent prior tractor/trailer
driving experience through a one (1) week on a full-time basis and 2
week on a part-time basis refresher course. This training will help the
current Class A Commercial Driver’s License holder with no OTR
experience within the last 6 – 12 months to be recertified for
Over-the-Road employment. This training can also be tailored to an
employer requirement(s) to bring the driver to the proper level in the
basic skills for immediate employment. The practical hands-on
instruction covers Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection, Backing Skills and
On-Road Driving in various traffic situations. The student will be
required to pass a Pre-Trip Inspection, Backing Skills and Road Skills
evaluation as necessary. Job placement assistance is provided with
over-the- road (OTR) national carriers/companies that hire our graduates
directly upon completion of training. (National carriers/companies
screen by the following: background, motor vehicle driving record, and
work history.) Prerequisites: Must possess a Class A Commercial
Driver’s License and pass a drug screen. B. Total Cost of Program
