Aviation Maintenance Technology
A. Course Objective:
West-MEC’s Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program is designed to provide our students with the proper knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen career field as an AMT. The program teaches students the maintenance and repair of aircraft mechanical systems including turbine and reciprocating engines, aircraft finishes, corrosion control, sheet metal, welding, landing gears, hydraulics, propellers, basic electricity and electrical systems. This training prepares our students with the proper knowledge and skill levels required to pass the three written test (General, Airframe, Powerplant) and the Oral & Practical test that are required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to receive an Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. Receiving the Airframe and/or Powerplant Certificate will allow students to gain entry level employment in aviation field.
