Description
A. Course Objective: Prepare students to become integral members of the physical therapy health care team under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Framework includes anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, fundamentals of diseases and conditions, treatment plans, rehabilitation therapies, the musculoskeletal system, and ethics and laws governing the practice of physical therapy. Competencies to be achieved: Aseptic Technique, Positioning/Draping, Body Mechanics. Cryotherapy, Thermotherapy, Ultrasound, Electrotherapeutic Modalities, Mechanical Traction – Cervical and Lumbar, Soft Tissue Mobilization. Goniometric, Manual Muscle Test, Postural, Gait Assessments, Joint Mobilization, Vital Signs, Functional Training – Transfers, Application of Assistive Devices, PNF Patterns, Therapeutic Exercise- Strengthening, Anthropometric Characteristics.
