Description
A. Course Objective:
Health Care Administrators (HCAs) work to make sure patients receive the care they need, provide leadership and assisting in managing health care organizations within their field. HCAs help oversee health care settings, often working directly with health information systems to ensure the quality of patient medical records.
Description: AZC Health Care Administration is an Associate Degree of Applied Science (AAS) program that prepares students to become successful leaders within all types of health care settings.
Classroom experiences focus on the development of skills to be an effective leader and planner.
Competencies to be achieved: This program is for promotional opportunities or current supervisors and managers who would like to enhance their skills as well as others working in a health care discipline who would like to take on more responsibility.
Example classes include:
Informatics: How to run reports to improve patient outcomes and meet government regulatory guidelines.
Due to the changes implemented with Health Care Reform and the Affordable Care Act, compliancy with health care regulations is now a mandatory requirement of health care offices.
Management Series (4 courses)
Leadership, Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Managing the Medical Office. Overview of Medical Office Structure, Team Dynamics, Interdepartmental Collaboration, Managing in the health care setting.(Hands on projects, in-class discussions, and real-world scenarios allow the student to practice leadership skills in a supportive environment with opportunities to develop leadership skills)
The Management series teaches the intricate skills directly related to managing a health care office. Concepts taught include developing personal leadership skills, motivating employees and employee personalities, conflict resolution, building effective teams, and other related skills.
Customer Service : Cultural Diversity, Patient Advocacy, Development of Interpersonal Relationship Skills, Handling the Difficult Patient: Arms the student with the necessary tools to succeed at providing excellent customer service.
Health care reimbursement now being based on overall customer satisfaction, this course becomes an essential to the success of any health care facility.
To enroll into this program, the prospective student must have graduated from an accredited credit hour diploma level program.
The AAS in Health Care Administration can be completed in 30 weeks, 6 sessions.
This program DOES NOT include an externship.
HCA provides opportunities for students graduating from any Allied Health credit hour program an option to obtain a degree.
Advisory Boards Meetings have suggested that with the changes made with the Affordable Care Act and movement to EMR systems, new courses allow graduates to be more competitive in the job market.
B. Total Cost of Program: WIOA pricing is $11,895 (less any transferring in credits).
