Description
The medical assistant is an integral member of the health care delivery team, qualified by education and experience to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory roles. The medical assistant often acts as a liaison between the doctor and the patient and is of vital importance to the success of the medical practice. The Medical Assistant certificate prepares the student to take the national certification exam. The American Medical Technologists (AMT) issues national certification and maintains a registry of its certificate holders. This certification requires a minimum of 900 clock hours (or equivalent) of training in Medical Assistant skills (including a clinical externship). For more information regarding the Medical Assistant certificate see the Medical Assistant webpage.
A completed application must be submitted for admission to the medical assistant programs. You can obtain the application online, at any MCC campus, from an advisor, or at the medical assistant department.
