- Habitat Construction Training (CTP) Overview
Habitat for Humanity CTP pre-apprenticeship program is a 9-12 week, fast track, construction experience training program. The program is uniquely designed as an immersive and intensive curriculum that specializes on basic core construction fundamentals, leadership and soft skills development for participants ages 18 and over that are disenfranchised, underserved, underemployed and at-risk of being left out of the economy.
Our specialized training curriculum integrates technical, behavior and mindset skills where on the job failure is most likely to occur. Majority of the technical training curriculum emphasizes on practical skills that include our in house lab with mock up builds and hands on experience with a actual house build. Assessment is done on a regular basis throughout the program focusing on attendance, literacy, and construction math gains for each participant through an individual career development plan.
Keeping with Habitat’s vision, mission and values our focused CPT trainees will work together with sponsors to assist in building a new affordable home in a community and have other hands on opportunities through our Aging in Place, Neighborhood Revitalization, and Emergency Service departments. This hands on experience including the NCCER certification strengthens the CPT trainees training to transition into job placement, state and national construction apprenticeship programs and the military.
