Competencies: Course 1-Technical Support Fundamentals: understand binary system; assemble computer; choose & install operating system; understand the Internet & how it works; learn how applications are created & how they work; use problem-solving methodologies & soft skills in IT setting
Course 2-Bits and Bytes of Computer Networking: describe computer networks in five-layer model; understand protocols involved with TCP/IP communications; grasp network troubleshooting tools & techniques; learn network services (DNS & DHCP); understand cloud computing & storage & everything as a service
Course 3-Operating Systems & You: Becoming a Power User: navigate Windows & Linux filesystems using GUI & command line interpreter; set up users, groups, & permissions for account access; install, configure, & remove software on Windows & Linux operating systems; configure disk partitions & filesystems; understand how system processes work & how to manage them; work with system logs & remote connection tools; use operating system knowledge to troubleshoot common issues in an IT Support Specialist role
