Description
Objective: Successful completion of the 16-week Computer System Configuration and Support Program will prepare students to apply for entry-level computer maintenance, help desk and network technician jobs and complete the industry recognized Comp TIA A+ certification exams. Description: Program emphasis is placed on hardware installation, maintenance, mobile devices, hardware troubleshooting, proper use of tools, safety procedures, and professionalism. Classes focus on the development of knowledge and skills in computer technologies including system components, installation, system configuration, peripheral devices, and notebooks. Competencies to be achieved: Assess computer hardware and software using critical thinking, industry standard tools, and best practices to demonstrate proper installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service. Demonstrate proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Assess operating systems using critical thinking, industry standard tools, and best practices to demonstrate proper installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service. Career Pathway: Desktop Technician, IT Network Administration, Help Desk Support, IT Support Specialist, Computer Operators, Computer Information and Repair Technology Technician.
