COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Esthetics program consists of a combination of theory and practical applications of the following:
Fundamentals and Techniques in the following areas: Theory of Esthetics; Recognition of Diseases and the Treatment of
Disorders, Arizona Cosmetology Laws and Rules; Skin Conditions and Disorders; Nutrition; Aging Factors; Pre- and Post-
Client Consultation, Documentation, and Analysis; Body and Facial Hair Removal; Lash and Brow Tinting; Morphology
and Treatment of Skin including face and body with and without the use of Machines and including Massage Movements
and Manipulations, Product Pharmacology and Chemistry Interaction, Formulation, Composition, and Hazards; Aesthetics
Machines, Tools, and Instruments and their related uses; All incorporating Principles and Practices of Infection Control and
Safety; Anatomy, Physiology, and Histology of the Body.
Performing advanced techniques and services on live models or mannequins on the Student Salon floor and time in the classroom studying the following areas: Facial Treatments with and without the use of Machines and including Massage Movements and Manipulations; Alternative Skin Technology; Spa Body Modalities; Exfoliation Modalities; All incorporating Sterilization, Sanitation and Bacteriology and Anatomy and Physiology, Professional Ethics, Interpersonal Skills, Professional Ethics,
OSHA and EPA Requirements and Arizona Statutes and Rules.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
Upon completion / graduation, students will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Perform all aspects of Skin Care, Waxing and Makeup Applications
• Practice Sterilization, Sanitation and Bacteriology
• Proficiency in all Theory related topics
• A knowledge in the many job opportunities in the Beauty Industry
• Professionalism with a focus on providing excellent Customer Service
COURSE FORMAT
Course content is identified and prioritized through State and Industry standards. Each course will provide students with an
understanding of the Fundamentals and Techniques of Skin Services, Related Sciences, and Customer Service Skills necessary
to complete a successful salon level service.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS
In a student-centered classroom, Educators will instruct and coach students to achieve competency in all the various skill sets
through problem solving, self-paced study, interactive theory and hands on practice. Enrichment Activities will be provided so
that the student can individualize their education.
REFERENCES
Each classroom will have the following: Textbooks, Tools / Equipment and Skin Care Products. In addition, the school is
provided with an internet connection allowing accessibility to current Websites, Videos, and Tutorials. Electronic and/or hard
copies of any Textbooks, Periodicals or other Reference Materials may also be available.
GRADING PROCEDURES
The goal of an assessment is to measure competency. Ample practice and feedback will be given prior to any assessment.
Students will be periodically evaluated based upon performance and attendance.


Esthetics I, assigned work will be weighted:
Quiz 40% Test 60%


Esthetics II, assigned work will be weighted:
Theory 60% Practical 40%


Esthetics III, assigned work will be weighted:
Theory 40% Practical 60%


Students take a predetermined number of Theory and/or Practical assessments per module. Work is graded using the
following grading scale:
A – 93 – 100
B – 85 – 92
C – 75 – 84
D – 70 – 74
F – Below 70
The Enrichments are evaluated on a Pass or Not Passed basis. Satisfactory completion is needed in the following areas:
General Safety and Technical Skills.
In addition, students may be required, per state requirements, to complete a minimum number of practical applications
as part of graduation requirements. Each practical application / assignment a student performs will be recorded on a
daily basis.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to graduate and receive a diploma, Students must meet the following requirements:
• Complete the required hours of training for the Program;
• Complete curriculum requirements as set forth in the Catalog and any Supplement to the Catalog; and
• Fulfill all financial obligations to the school.
Upon completion of all course requirements, successful completion of the State Board of Cosmetology Examination is
required to obtain a license to practice. The School does not guarantee that the Student will pass the examination.
