Description

This program is designed to prepare individuals to become employable as a peace officer in the state of Arizona. MCC, in partnership with the Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy (WALETA), offers college credit to individuals who have met the minimum qualifications for a peace officer applicant as specified by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) and are sponsored by a law enforcement agency.


The Arizona Peace Officer & Training Board (AZ Post) collaborated with law enforcement agencies to shape a basic training curriculum. Law enforcement academies including, Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy (WALETA) collaborate with community colleges around the state to offer college credits in a related field such as Administration of Justice or Law Enforcement Technology. Courses offered through the community colleges are ‘closed’ courses; individuals desiring to join must be approved and/or referred by law enforcement agencies to participate in academies.
