A. Course Objective:
Description:
Our AVMA-CVTEA fully accredited Veterinary Technician training program can help you gain the skills to take the first steps towards an exciting new career in the booming field of veterinary technology. In our online veterinary technician school, you’ll study a wide range of topics and gain real-world vet technician experience during the clinical externship portions of the program. Plus, our online courses allow you to earn your associate degree and prepare for the VTNE exam at home or on the go, and study on your schedule.
Competencies to be achieved:
Veterinary Technician Associates Degree and completion of the VTNE National Exam
B. Total Cost of Program (include all costs to student including testing, licensure):
$6880.00 total cost of the degree and $330 cost of VTNE exam.

Semester 1:
Clinical Anatomy and Physiology for Veterinary Technicians.
Semester 2: Clinical Textbook for Veterinary Technicians, Practical Business Math Procedures, Medical Dosage Calculations, Essential Calculations for Veterinary Nurses and Techs, Applied Pharmacology.
Semester 3:
Laboratory Procedures for Veterinary Technicians, Anesthesia And Analgesia for Veterinary Technicians, Living with Art or Experience Music, Small Animal Surgical Nursing, Diagnostic Parasitology for Veterinary Technicians.
Semester 4: Diagnostic Imaging for Veterinary Technicians, Psychology and your life, Laboratory Animal and Exotic Pet Medicine: Principles and Procedures,

• Physical Requirements
o Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
o Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance
o Must possess dexterity to operate equipment and work with animals
• Insurance Requirements
o Students are required to have health insurance in order to complete the externships. Please note that Aflac or Worker’s Compensation will not satisfy this requirement. In addition, some externship sites may also require the student to obtain liability insurance to protect the clinical site if the student is injured. A background check may be required, but that will be up to both the clinical site you chose and the employer once hired. Penn Foster does not require a background check.

o There are two required externships
? Semester 2 – 200 hours (Cats and Dogs)
? Semester 4 – 250 hours (Cats, Dogs, Large Animals, Rodents, Birds, Rabbits)
