A. Course Objective:


-Prepare the student to successfully complete the knowledge examination for certification by the Arizona Board of Nursing’s Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers (NCIA/ALFM).


-Develop knowledge and skills necessary to obtain employment as a certified caregiver.


Description: The certified caregiver certificate program is designed to prepare students for entry level healthcare positions in assisted living facilities. Students completing this program will be prepared to take the knowledge examination for certification by the Arizona Board of Nursing’s Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers (NCIA/ALFM)


Competencies to be achieved: Students will be able to:


-safely perform skills of a certified caregiver.


-work effectively as part of a healthcare team.


-practice culturally appropriate care.


-pass the certified caregiver licensing exam.


-obtain employment as a certified caregiver.

-AZ DPS fingerprint clearance card, Level I (required for enrollment into the course)


Other requirements needed:


Prerequisites:  AZ DPS fingerprint clearance card, 18yrs or older at the time of course completion, placement into ENG 098 or above.  


Pre/Co-requisite: CPR/First Aid, Food Handler's card
