Description
Program Name: Industrial Technology for the Semiconductor Industry
Course Objective/Description: Introduction to semiconductor manufacturing concepts, processes, and hands-on application. Includes electrical theory, circuits, schematics, hand tools, safety, clean room protocols, model based problem solving, lean manufacturing, vacuum technology, and troubleshooting.
Competencies to be achieved:
- Describe basic semiconductor manufacturing concepts, processes, and employment opportunities. (I, II)
- Explain basic industrial electrical principles. (III)
- Use schematic diagrams to trace circuits. (IV)
- Identify hand tools used in preventative and corrective maintenance activities in a semiconductor facility. (V)
- Demonstrate safe and proper use of hand tools commonly associated with preventative and corrective maintenance activities in a semiconductor factory. (V)
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety protocols for clean rooms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to avoid workplace injury and ensure product protection. (VI, VII, VIII)
- Apply Model Based Problem Solving (MBPS) to identify and develop solutions to semiconductor industry problems. (VIII, IX)
- Apply appropriate problem-solving models to troubleshoot semiconductor industry challenges. (VIII, IX)
- Define the principles and rules of a Lean organizational approach to continuous improvement. (X)
- Identify vacuum components. (XI)
- Safely perform basic vacuum procedures. (XII, XIII)
- Troubleshoot common issues found in a system under vacuum. (XIV)
