Description
Phlebotomy Technician Training (Fast-Track)
A. Course Objective: Prepares student to have the technical skills needed to enter the healthcare industry as an entry-level phlebotomist.
Description: Students will gain skill development in the performance of a variety of blood collection methods using proper venipuncture techniques and standard precautions. Includes vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin puncture, butterfly needles and blood culture, and specimen collection on adults. The Phlebotomy Technician program includes theory and hands-on instruction. Students who successfully complete the course requirements can prepare and sit for the National Healthcare Association Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Examination.
Competencies to be achieved:
PLB 101 Phlebotomy Technician Training (6 cr): Students will gain skill development in the performance of a variety of blood collection methods using proper venipuncture techniques and standard precautions. Includes vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin puncture, butterfly needles and blood culture, and specimen collection on adults.
