Program Synopsis Phlebotomy Certificate
Program Location: Signal Peak Campus
Course Objective:
Description: Preparation of competent entry-level clinical laboratory assistants who perform various laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, specimen processing, and quality control procedures under the supervision of physicians, laboratory scientists, or technologists in a clinical laboratory setting.
Competencies to be achieved:
As a phlebotomist, you'll need: to be caring and kind, willing to be hands-on with patients, to be able to put patients at ease - they might feel anxious about giving blood, able to follow instructions and procedures, able to work in a team but use your own initiative, able to explain procedures to patients, careful and methodical, You'll also need: good communication skills, including listening skills, good organizational and observational skills.
Pre- Degree Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Students must apply for admission to the Phlebotomy Certificate portion of the CLA program with the Professor of Clinical Lab.
* Current First Aid card and Healthcare Provider level CPR (AHA or ASHI) card are required during practicums and must be taken prior to
the first term practicum.
* All Phlebotomy students will be required to complete a criminal history background, provide proof of immunization, and take a drug test.
Total Cost of Program (include all costs to student including testing, licensure):
Tuition (In-State) 6 x $75 = $450
Tuition (Out of State) 6 x $150 = $900
