Program Description: Heavy Equipment Operator Training


The Heavy Equipment Operator training program covers the foundational skills of safety, pre- and post-operation checks, site planning and layout, and operations for a range of light-duty and heavy equipment.


Heavy Equipment Operations supports multiple unique training pathways and credentials for skid steer, backhoe, loader, forklift, and excavator.


The Heavy Equipment Operations curriculum is designed to be used flexibly in conjunction with other craft training materials. Participants will receive an in depth understanding of NCCER Core, forklift operation, work zone flagger, OSHA 10 Construction, and Empire CAT level one heavy equipment operator.


Information on Practical Training: Practical training takes place at 7820 S Camino Huivism, Tucson, AZ  85757.

Additional information: Student may take part of the course at home online within internet access or student may take part of the online portion in WTA’s computer lab, which is suggested for best results. WTA provides staff with knowledge of the course and will provide help to the student at any time. Background check requirements for licensing and background restrictions for working in the occupation: None.


Refund Policy: The cancellation and refund policy for these programs is as follows: If for any reason an applicant is denied admission by the institute, the applicant is entitled to a refund of all monies paid. Three-Day Cancellation. Other Cancellations: An applicant requesting cancellation more than three days after signing an enrollment agreement and making an initial payment, but prior to entering the institute, is entitled to a refund of all monies paid, less the registration of $200 and less the other associated fees. Credentials:  After completing NCCER Core students can work with employers in an apprenticeship program to be able to move up & become a NCCER Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 operator. Students will also be prepared to sit for exams issued through the National Forklift Foundation, National Safety Council Work Zone Flagger, and OSHA 10 Construction.
