Description
Basic Plumbing Certificate (Fast-Track)
A. Program Objective:
Graduates will demonstrate basic knowledge in Plumbing that will prepare them to obtain an entry-level position within the field.
Program Description:
Provides graduates with the essential skills required of an entry level employee in the plumbing industry. This program is certified with the National Association of Home Builders through the Home Builders Institute and encompasses the National Skills Standards for the Construction Trades.
Competencies to be achieved: 14 credits (not including 5 cr. prerequisite)
PCT 105 Introduction to Plumbing Technology (3 cr.): Introduction to basic plumbing techniques, procedures and related safety for tools commonly used in plumbing settings.
PCT 115 Plumbing Drain, Waste and Venting Systems (3 cr.): Design and installation of drain, waste and vent (DWV) systems.
PCT 205 Plumbing Water Supply and Distribution Systems (4 cr.): Design and installation of residential water supply and water distribution systems.
PCT 210 Plumbing Fixture and Appliance Installation (4 cr.): Techniques for installing residential fixtures, faucets, and appliances.
Prerequisite: TEC 100 Core Curriculum Introductory Craft Skills (5 cr.): Development of skills and techniques necessary for basic construction/ industrial maintenance craft skills.

Credential Attainment Rate: Percentage of students in the last 24 months who obtained a postsecondary credential, or secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent, during participation or within one year after exit from the training program. This program has not yet been offered fast-track. However as of 1/17/24, 14 of 63 students (22%) have earned the postsecondary credential when offered as a regular one semester program as part of AWC’s prison program.
