Course Objective:
Description: The FMMFD EMT course prepares students to be Emergency Medical Technicians, proficient in BLS (Basic Life Support) pre-hospital Emergency Medicine. This includes skills such as CPR, Advanced First aid, and Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support. The program is a 6-week academy.
Competencies to be achieved: CPR, First Aid, Team dynamics, Ambulance and gurney operations, Blood Glucose monitoring, Cardiac monitor operation, Epinephrine Auto-injector, Intravenous monitoring, EMS operations. Refer to course objectives within the course syllabus.

- Background check requirements for licensing and background restrictions for working in the occupation:
Students are required to pass AZDHS and agency background checks for EMT lcensing and EMT employment.
- Other requirements needed:
- Photo/Scan of Driver's License or Identification Number
- Photo/Scan of H.S. Diploma or GED Award
- Photo/Scan of the following immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR): Two doses of the MMR vaccine, or a positive blood titer verified by
a physician
- Varicella (Chicken Pox): Two doses of the Varicella vaccine, or a positive blood titer verified by a physician
- Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap): One dose within the last 10 years, or one dose of Tetanus
and Diphtheria (TD) within the last two years
- Flu vaccine: A current season flu vaccine

Partial Refunds will not be given more than 10 days after the start of the program. Students will only be entitled to a certain percentage of tuition costs. A $100 administrative fee will be assessed on these requests. A full refund will be made in the event a course is canceled or rescheduled.
