Description
The Medical Assistant Program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the healthcare field. This comprehensive program covers both administrative and clinical aspects of medical assisting, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for a variety of roles in medical offices, hospitals, and clinics.
Competencies to be achieved:
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in performing basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with examinations.
- Administrative Skills: Knowledge of office procedures, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling billing and coding.
- Patient Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with patients, including explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
- Medical Terminology: Understanding of medical terminology to accurately document patient information and communicate with healthcare professionals.
- Infection Control: Knowledge of infection control protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety and maintain a sterile environment.
- Phlebotomy: Skills in drawing blood and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
- Medication Administration: Understanding the principles of medication administration and patient education regarding prescribed medications.
- Emergency Response: Training in basic life support (BLS) and emergency procedures to respond effectively in critical situations.
- Ethical and Legal Standards: Awareness of ethical issues and legal regulations related to patient care and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology, including electronic health records (EHR) systems.

- Each student is required to have a pair of scrub uniforms and one textbook. Additionally, students are responsible for the NHA certification sit-in fee. While purchasing their own stethoscope is optional, students will also need to buy their own graduation regalia.

1. Students must either have a high school diploma or its equivalent or be actively pursuing their diploma or equivalency.
2. We offer GED tutoring at no additional cost for students who need assistance in pursuing this option
Certification by the National Healthcare Association:
1. To achieve certification, students must possess a high school diploma or GED within one year of taking the certification exam
2. If a student does not have a diploma at the time of certification, they will receive a temporary certification certificate, valid for one year. During this period, the student must submit their diploma to obtain a permanent certification.

Refund Policy
Refund Policy Summary: Students can cancel their enrollment by providing written notice to the institution. If canceled within three business days, a full refund is issued. Cancellations after three days but before the class start date incur a $200 cancellation fee. After classes begin, refunds are pro-rated based on the remaining classes. No refunds are available for books, supplies, or fees, and late payments do not constitute cancellation notice.
