Description

Program Objective: The Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certification is an industry-recognized credential that can effectively start students’ careers as designers, engineers, and makers. It enhances students' higher ed applications and resumes by providing evidence of competency and proficiency. The certification is an excellent way for students with about 150 hours of real-world Autodesk software experience to validate their software skills.

Description: This course Introduces the student to the basics of AutoCAD, a requires no prior knowledge of AutoCAD.

We begin with an introduction to the basic AutoCAD commands used to create and modify the elements of a CAD drawing, such as line, circle, erase to name a few.  We then introduce units of measurement, and how to manipulate the elements you are drawing.

In addition, we will introduce the following concepts used to produce CAD drawings.

  • Adding layers to drawings,

  • The methods used to add text to a drawing,

  • Adding hatch patterns,

  • Dimensioning a drawing,

  • Creating and inserting Blocks to a drawing,

  • Adding arrays to a drawing (arrays take a single object drawing and creates multiple copies in a set pattern),

Finally, we will learn how to create drawings and print out copies of the drawings.

To practice these skills, we will create some basic drawing exercises, as well as two simple projects, (one architectural and one mechanical).

We will conclude with an opportunity to take a test to gain an AutoCAD Basics Certification.
